Threshing Grain On Manitoba Farm. Most Threshing At This Time Was Done From Stacks Of Grain Sheaves, And The Grain Was Handled In Bags. Note The Three Men Sitting On The Bags Of Grain In The Wagon Box. Steam Tractor With Smokestack At Rear Indicated A Return Flue Engine. The Separator (Threshing Machine) Is Equipped With Feeder To Carry Sheaves Into The Separator And Elevated Bagger Which Carried Grain By Gravity To Grain Bags Later Into Wagon Boxes. This Machine Was Prior To Straw Blower. A Straw Carrier Extended From The Machine And With A Continuous Slatted Belt Moved The Straw Which Eventually Had To Be Drawn Away By Team Of Horses And Bucking Pole Into Piles As Shown Between The Drive Belt And Distant Stacks Of Sheaves |
