On July 3, 1845 He Married Margaret Christie, A Daughter Of Alexander Christie Who Served For Two Terms As Governor Of Assiniboia. In 1862 He Was Appointed Recorder Of Rupert'S Land A Position He Held Until Manitoba Became A Province In 1870. Black Was A Member Of The Delegation Sent By The Red River Settlers To Negotiate With The Canadian Government In 1870. Recorder And Chief Trader.

description: A Band Of 180 Highlanders (33 Families And 25 Single Men) Left Scotland Late In June 1773 Arriving In Nova Scotia On The Sailing Ship "Hector" With Rear Mast Fore- And- Aft Rigged And Other Masts Square-Rigged. The "Hector" Was An Old Dutch Vessel Not In The Best Condition. In A Storm Off Newfoundland She Was Driven Back So Far That It Took A Fortnignt To Recover The Lost Distance. Food And Water Ran Low During The 11-Week Crossing And Sickness Claimed 18 Lives. On September 15th, A Beautiful Day, A Fraser Piper Led The Way As Men Women And Children Waded Through The Shallow Water With Their Few Possessions. Because It Was Unlawful In Scotland Since 1745, The Highlanders Wore The Old But Cherished Kilts And Plaids In Honour Of The Occasion Of Landing At Pictou Harbour, Nova Scotia. description: Alexander Hunter Murray (1818-1874) Fur Trader & Explorer, Was Born At Kilmun, Argyleshire, Scotland, In 1818. As A Young Man He Emigrated Tothe United States And Served With The American Fur Company. He Married Anne Campbell, Daughter, Of Chief Trader Colin Campbell, Whom He Met On A Journey To The Athabasca District. They Had Eight Children. His Eldest Daughter Helen, Became The Wife Of Chief Trader W.J. (Big Bear) Mclean Of 1885 Rebellion Fame. In The Spring Of 1846 He Came Up To Fort Garry From Missouri, And Joined The Hbc As Senior Clerk. In 1847 Chief Factor Murdock Mcpherson Appointed Murray To The Mackenzie River District To Establish An Outpost At Fort Yukon, In Russian Alaska. In Later Years He Managed Several Hbc Posts And In 1856 Was Made Chief Trader. In 1862 He Was Placed In Charge Of Lower Fort Garry, Where He Remained Until 1864. He Retired From The Fur Trade In 1867 And Died At His Home, "Bellevue" Near Lower Fort Garry In April 1874

In 1927 He Joined The Chicago Black Hawks As Regular Goalie And For 7 Years Played In 315 League Games, Allowing Only 673 Goals Or 2.13 Average Per Game, Ringing Up 42 Shutouts. In Playoff Hockey He Allowed Only 35 Goals In 21 Games For A 1.66 Average Scoring 5 Shutouts. He Was The Vezina Trophy Winner 1932 & 1934, And Made The First All-Star Team In1932 & 1934. He Died In Winnipeg In June 1934

He Was Prof Of Physiology And Histology And In 1886 Became Surgeon- In- Chief At St. Boniface Hospital. In 1893 The Hospital Built A New Operating Theatre With An Amphitheatre Seating 120 Where He Conducted Operative Clinics. Since Many Icelandic In Manitoba Suffered From Hydatid Cysts, By 1892 Ferguson Operated On Them And Had The Most Knowledge In America. In 1894 He Moved To Chicago To Operated In Chicago Hospital Which He Later Owned. He Became In 1910 President Of The Western Surgical & Gynecological Society. He Was Renowned For Operative Technigues On Hernias. He Suffered From Diabetes And Carbuncles And He Died In 1911

title: Ewen Macdonald, 1839-1909, Chief Factor of Hudson's Bay Company.
description: Macdonald was born at Glen Quoich, Invernesshire, Scotland. He married the daughter of Chief Trader Alexander Murray. He joined the Company in 1859, serving at Norway House and Swan River. After retiring in 1873 he purchased a farm near Portage la Prairie. He rejoined the Company in 1875, serving at Ile-a-la-Crosse and Norway House, Lesser Slave Lake, Peace River, Michipecoten and Lake Superior. He retired from the Hudson's Bay Company in 1905, residing first at Prince Albert and later at Victoria, British Columbia where he died in 1909.

He Was Ordained As Baptist Minister In 1930; Moved To Weyburn, Sk, And Married Irma Dempsey Of Carbberry, Mb. He Served As Ccf Member For Weyburn In The Canadian House Of Commons 1935 - 1944. He Was Elected President Of Saskatchewan Ccf In 1941. He Resigned From The House Of Commons In 1944 And Led His Party To Victory In Saskatchewan Election With A Large Majority. He Became Premier And Minister Of Public Health July 10, 1944. His Government Was Returned With Large Majorities In The General Elections Of 1948, 1952, 1956, And 1960. He Directed An Expansion In Health Servic4es. He Was Elected National Leader Of The Ndp At Its Founding Convention In Ottawa 1961. He Retired From Provincial Party Leadership And The Premiership In November
