In 1977 She Was Instrumental In The Forming The Winnipeg Gymnastic Center, Where She Has Served As Head Coach And Program Director. She Has Served As Coach At All Development Levels From The Recreational To The Elite. Her Efforts Have Produced 5 International Level Gymnasts Including Her Daughter Monica Goermann, A Former Manitoba Athlete Of The Year. Elfriede Has Served On Countless Coaching, Judging And Technical Committees; Coordinated Developmental Clinics For New Coaches And Judges; And Rejuvenated Public Interest In Gymnastics. She Has Received International Recognition As A Brevet Judge Of Women'S Gymnastics, The Highest Honour In International Judging. By 1972 He Had Collected 2 Of His 6 Consecutive Western Canada Titles And Was The Best Tumbler In Canada. He Placed 3rd In The Canadian Gymnastic Championships Also In 1972. He Then Had A 7 Year String Of Victories In Regional Gymnasiums. He Joined The Ranks Of The Canadian National Team In 1973. He Also Extended His Control To Include A Round Of Victories In Interscholastic Competitions In Canada And The Usa. In 1974 He Was Chosen U Of Manitoba'S Choice For Athlete Of The Year. He Also Ruled The National Circuit Winning The Canadian Men'S Crown As Well As The Ciau Championships. Internationally He Competed In China And The Bulgaria World Championships As Well As The Russia - China Tour Of Canada. In 1975 In Addition To His Second Consecutive Ciau Title Keith Placed 1st In Vault And Floor In Both The Romanian And Hungarian Tournaments. In The 1976 Olympics He Placed 18th Out Of 121 Competitors Ranking Above His Canadian Team Members. For Gymnastic Excellence He Was Awarded By Winnipeg The Fig Pin, A Symbol For Gymnasts Who Achieve 9.0 Or Better In Each Event. No Sooner Than The Flame Of The Xxi Olympiad Extinguished Keith Retired From Competition. In 1983 The Keith Carter Award Was Established To Honour Outstanding Achievement By A Manitoba Male Gymnast.
