The "Hector" Was An Old Dutch Vessel Not In The Best Condition. In A Storm Off Newfoundland She Was Driven Back So Far That It Took A Fortnignt To Recover The Lost Distance. On September 15th, A Beautiful Day, A Fraser Piper Led The Way As Men Women And Children Waded Through The Shallow Water With Their Few Possessions. 11685 A0363 Miscellaneous Collection     Cjrc, Studio "A", Inside The Royal Alexandra Hotel, Winnipeg Showing Furniture And A Piano. The Station Was Owned And Operated By James Richardson & Sons, Ltd. In 1933 A Licence Was Taken Out To Operate Cjrc From Winnipeg. (This Station Still Operates But As Ckrc). In 1934 The Cjrc Studios At The Royal Alexandra Hotel Was Enlarged. In 1936 The Power Of This Station Was Increased To 1000 Watts And The Frequency Changed To 630 Kilocycles. To Accomplish This, Cjgx Station At Yorton Was Purchased Transferring Their 1000 Watt Transmitter To Winnipeg And Using Their Frequency. After All These Changes Three Transmitters Were On The Standard Broadcast Band, Regina, Yorkton, And Winnipeg With Call Letters Cjrm, Cjgx, Cjrc Respectively, In Addition To 2 Shortwave Transmitters At Middlechurch, Mb, With Call Letters Of Cjro And Cjrx. In 1940, Cjrm, Cjrc And The Two Shortwaves Were Sold To The Sifton Familly And Cjgx To Dawson Richardson (No Connection To James Richardson & Sons Ltd)  CommunicationsFurnitureHotelsMusical InstrumentsRadioWinnipeg Buildings

On September 21st The Dorseys Played Exclusively Forthe Royal Winnipeg Ballet Supper Dance At The Rancho Don Carlos. The Brothers Had Their Own Bands For 18 Years. Then Jimmy Dorsey'S Band Disbanded. In April 1953, Tommy Dorsey Asked His Older Brother Jimmy To Join His Orchestra And The Tag Line Became "Tommy Dorsey And His Orchestra Featuring Jimmy Dorsey". The Don Carlos Nightclub Was In Competition With 2 Other Pembina Highway Nightclubs, The Highwayman And Jack'S Place. The Bandstand At The Rancho Was Made Considerably Larger To Accommodate Dorsey'S 16 Piece Band. Don Carlos Owned By Charlie Mazzone (Who Was A Native Of Messia, Sicily, Came To Canada Prior To Ww I And Served In The Rcaf. Members Of The Tommy Dorsey Orchestra (L- R): Saxes: Baritone, Teddy Lee; Second Alto, Joe Pamelio; Lead Alto, "Red" Press, Second Tenor, Allan Feldman.
