After Ww Ii He Served As Coach And Manager With The Elmwood Terriers And Elmwood Pats. He Served As President Of The Manitoba Lacrosse Association. He Won The American National Recreation Association'S Award In 1956. He Was The First Canadian Ever To Be Awarded The Association'S Award Which Recognizes People Who Actively Encourage Young People'S Participation In Sports. In 1964 The City Of Winnipeg Awarded Him The City Of Winnipeg Community Service Award. He Was Recognized By The City Again In 1972. A Park Located On The North Side Of The Red River Between The Louise Bridge And The Disraeli Freeway Was Named Ernie O'Dowda Park. He Was An Avid Curler And Was Made An Honorary Life Member Of The Elmwood Curling Club. He Also Operated Amateur Boxing And Wrestling Cards At Elmwood'S Kelvin Community Centre.
