Jorowski was born in Kalmor, Ontario and moved at an early age to Winnipeg, where she was educated. She is married with 3 children. She was an International Toastmistress for 9 years; Chairman of the Winnipeg Centennial Committee of East Kildonan in 1974; and active in the Anti-Pornography Committee; and a founding member of the East Kildonan Horticultural Society in 1967 and President for 3 years. She was Chairman of the East Kildonan Junior Gardeners Program for 5 years. She ran successfully for election in 1974 in Leighton Ward and served for fifth term on Council. She was Chairman of "International Year of the Child" for Winnipeg. She organized Concordia Hospital Auxiliary in 1980. She was also Chairman of Share Christmas 1970 (which sent over 8 tons of food, clothing, toys, and books to the Shamatawa Reserve, Manitoba). |

Despite Having Been Diagnosed With Childhood Diabetes At The Age Of 15, Clarke Played Hockey On The Outdoor Rinks In Flin Flon. He Advanced Quickly Through Local Minor Hockey To Play Junior Hockey At Whitney Forum With The Flin Flon Bombers, The Scourges Of The Western Canada Hockey League In 1967 - 1969. Although One Of Canada'S Outstanding Juniors In 1969 He Was Not Drafted Until Late In The 2nd Round Because They Worried That He Was Diabetic. He Had A Brilliant 15 Year Career In The Nhl Highlighted By The Flyers' Capture Of The Stanley Cup In 1973- 1974 And 1974 - 1975 And His Two Time Selection As First All Star Centre In 1974 - 1975 And In 1975 - 1976; And His 3 Captures Of The Hart Trophy As The League'S Most Valuable Player In 1972-1973, 1974 - 1975, And 1975 - 1976. He Left As The Team'S All-Time Leading Scorer With 358 Goals And 852 Assists For 1,210 Points. He Retired As A Player On May 15,1984, And Was Appointed Vice-President And General Manager Of Philadelphia Flyers. He Was Inducted Into Manitoba Sports Hall Of Fame In 1987 |

Ernie O'Dowda, At The End Of His Playing Career In Lacrosse, Was Responsible For The Revival Of Lacrosse In Winnipeg And For The Establishment Of The Canadian Little League Baseball Group In The 1950s. After Ww Ii He Served As Coach And Manager With The Elmwood Terriers And Elmwood Pats. He Served As President Of The Manitoba Lacrosse Association. He Won The American National Recreation Association'S Award In 1956. He Was The First Canadian Ever To Be Awarded The Association'S Award Which Recognizes People Who Actively Encourage Young People'S Participation In Sports. In 1964 The City Of Winnipeg Awarded Him The City Of Winnipeg Community Service Award. He Was Recognized By The City Again In 1972. A Park Located On The North Side Of The Red River Between The Louise Bridge And The Disraeli Freeway Was Named Ernie O'Dowda Park. He Was An Avid Curler And Was Made An Honorary Life Member Of The Elmwood Curling Club. He Also Operated Amateur Boxing And Wrestling Cards At Elmwood'S Kelvin Community Centre. He Died June 25, 1985. He Was Inducted Into Manitoba Sports Hall Of Fame In 1987. Photo Is From A Charcoal Drawing |

He Also Extended His Control To Include A Round Of Victories In Interscholastic Competitions In Canada And The Usa. In 1974 He Was Chosen U Of Manitoba'S Choice For Athlete Of The Year. He Also Ruled The National Circuit Winning The Canadian Men'S Crown As Well As The Ciau Championships. Internationally He Competed In China And The Bulgaria World Championships As Well As The Russia - China Tour Of Canada. In 1975 In Addition To His Second Consecutive Ciau Title Keith Placed 1st In Vault And Floor In Both The Romanian And Hungarian Tournaments. In The 1976 Olympics He Placed 18th Out Of 121 Competitors Ranking Above His Canadian Team Members. For Gymnastic Excellence He Was Awarded By Winnipeg The Fig Pin, A Symbol For Gymnasts Who Achieve 9.0 Or Better In Each Event. No Sooner Than The Flame Of The Xxi Olympiad Extinguished Keith Retired From Competition. In 1983 The Keith Carter Award Was Established To Honour Outstanding Achievement By A Manitoba Male Gymnast. He Was Inducted Into Manitoba Sports Hall Of Fame In 1987 |

Joe was born at Chilliwack, British Columbia, daughter of William Andrew Commodore and Theresa Jean Prest, who were both Canadian aboriginals. She was educated at Alberni Indian Residential School, Hope High School and Vancouver Vocational College. She married Robert Joe and had 3 daughters. In 1963 she was a practical nurse. From 1969 to 1971 she was Vice-President of the Yukon Association of Non-Status Indians from 1975 - 1978; she was Chairman of the Yukon Indians and the Law Committee From 1975 - 1979. She was a member of the Board of the Yukon Indian Women's Association and of Ye-Sa-To Communications Society from 1975 - 1979. She was a player and coach of the Yukon Ladies Softball League. She was Justice of the Peace and Executive Secretary to the J.P. Council from 1980 to 1982. She was a committee member of the Skookum Jim Friendship Centre from 1969- 1971 and from 1982 -1985. She was elected to the Yukon Legislature on June 7, 1982, and re-elected on May 13, 1985. She was appointed Minister of Health and Human Resources on May 29, 1985. She was a member of the New Democratic Party. She lived in Whitehorse, Yukon Territories. |
