The Siege of Fort Pitt. |
From Canadian Illustrated War News. A detachment was established at the Hudson's Bay Company trading post of Fort Pitt in 1883 when Inspector Francis Dickens and 25 men were sent to the fort to keep watch on the Cree bands in the area. The detachment was isolated. It was surrounded by Reserves and the nearest post was more than 100 miles away down the Saskatchewan River at Battleford, Saskatchewan. |
