First Capitol Of Manitoba In 1870.Built In 1835 On Site Of Fort Gibraltar, It Became Headquarters Of United Fur Companies & Residence Of Governor Of Hbc. It Was The Meeting Place Of Council Of Assiniboia, A Local Administration Of The Forks. In 1882, It Became The Property Of The City Of Winnipeg And Was Demolished To Straighten Out Main Street. Only The Gateway Remains. The Stones Were Used For Hbc Store (Foundation) On Main Street And For Fort Garry Court Apartment
