description: When The New Midtown Bridge Was Constructed, Arrangements Were Made With The City Engineering Department Who Were Responsible For The Bridge Design To Incorporate Into A Structure Telephone & A City Signals Department Conduit Formations. When The Sidewalk Of This Section Of The Bridge Was Poured, Inserts Were Left In The Concrete And Were Attached To Special Brackets Which Hold 3 1/2 Inch Multiple Transit Ducts, Ne A 6 Duct Formation For Telephone Cables And One An 8 Duct Formation, 6 Of Which Are Mts And 2 For The Use Of The City Signals Department Conductors. The Actual Installation Of The Ducts In The Approaches Leading To The Bridge Was Installed Along With The Roadways When They Were Constructed. The Placing And Fastening Of The Conduits To The Underside Of The Bridge Was Carried Out (As Seen Here In Photo), During The Winter Months When Work Could Be Performed From The Ice Of The Assiniboine River, Which Was Deemed As A Superior Method Rather Than Constructing Scaffolding From The Bridges For Installation During The Summer Months.
