description: Dr. Robert George Brett, Born November 16,1851 In Strathroy, On, Son Of James & Catherine Mallon-Brett. In 1874 Graduated Medicine At Victoria College, Cobourg, On. He Came To Manitoba In 1880. He Was A Founders Of Manitoba Medical College And Professor Of Gynecology & Obstetrics. In 1884 With Dr. Orton Took Medical Charge Of The Construction Work Of The Cpr Across The Prairies Into The Mountains. Attracted By Mountains And Hot Springs, He Established Banff Sanatorium And Brett Hospital. He Was On The First Legislative Assembly Of Northwest Territories In 1888 To 1901 Introducing Medical Regulations Creating The First Medical Act Establishing The College Of Physicians And Surgeons Of The Nwt. He Supported The "Roddick" Bill Establishing The Dominion Medical Council. He Was Member Of Dominion Medical Council In 1921; President Of The Alberta Conservative Assoc In 1909; Lt-Gov Of Alberta 1915 - 1925. On Senate Of U Of Alberta In 1908 & 1912; President Of Red Cross In Alberta; Assist. Surgeon Of The 90th Regiment Of Winnipeg And Honourary Colonel Of The 82nd Battalion Cef. He Died In Calgary In 1929.
