The First English-Speaking Settlement In This Part Of Canada, Halifax Quickly Assumed What Proved A Key Role In Naval And Military History. Cornwallis Brought Carpenters From Annapolis, Lumber, Shingles, And Iron From New England, For Churches, Schools And A Hospital. Halifax Became A Provincial Capital In 1785 And Canada'S First Legislative Assembly In October 2, 1758. Note The Ship In The Background
