William Hallet Had Been Asked To Form A Group Of Armed Metis Scouts To Act As Escorts For The Canadian Boundary Commission Surveyors In The Survey Of The 49th Parallel From Lake Of The Woods To The Rockies. The Metis Scouts Were Employed In Various Activities As Well As Acting As Armed Escorts. They Were Armed With Repeating Spencer Carbines (Seen In Photo), Which Made Them Better Equipped Than The Canadian Militia Of The Day.
