description: Charles "Charlie" Gardner, Born In Edinburgh, Scotland In 1904, Emigrated To Winnipeg , At 7 Years Where He Learned To Play Hockey. At 14 He Played Intermediate Hockey In Portage La Prairie. In 1925, He Was With The Selkirk Senior Team And A Year Later Turned Pro With The Winnipeg Maroons. In 1927 He Joined The Chicago Black Hawks As Regular Goalie And For 7 Years Played In 315 League Games, Allowing Only 673 Goals Or 2.13 Average Per Game, Ringing Up 42 Shutouts. In Playoff Hockey He Allowed Only 35 Goals In 21 Games For A 1.66 Average Scoring 5 Shutouts. He Was The Vezina Trophy Winner 1932 & 1934, And Made The First All-Star Team In1932 & 1934. He Died In Winnipeg In June 1934
