He Spent The Years Of The First World War In Great Britain And Returned In 1919 To Winnipeg Where He Worked As A Printer Until 1924. He Was Educated At: Brandon College (Ba In1930), Mcmaster University (Ma 1933); Univeristy Of Chicago. He Was Ordained As Baptist Minister In 1930; Moved To Weyburn, Sk, And Married Irma Dempsey Of Carbberry, Mb. He Served As Ccf Member For Weyburn In The Canadian House Of Commons 1935 - 1944. He Was Elected President Of Saskatchewan Ccf In 1941. He Resigned From The House Of Commons In 1944 And Led His Party To Victory In Saskatchewan Election With A Large Majority. He Became Premier And Minister Of Public Health July 10, 1944. His Government Was Returned With Large Majorities In The General Elections Of 1948, 1952, 1956, And 1960. He Directed An Expansion In Health Servic4es. He Was Elected National Leader Of The Ndp At Its Founding Convention In Ottawa 1961. He Retired From Provincial Party Leadership And The Premiership In November
