description: Annie Hart Shipley (Born In Louisville, Colorado To English Immigrant Parents June21,1818 - Died 1970 In Vancouver, Bc), Was The Third Wife Of William (Bill) Shipley. She Lived In England, (From 9 Years Old When Her Mother Died), Before She Married William Shipley (In 1911) And Was A Trained Seamstress. When She Left England In C1909, Attracted By Advertising About The West Of Canada, She Took Her Treadle Singer Sewing Machine With Her. During Her Years On The Farm In Minto, Mb And In The Homestead In The Bush 38 Miles North East Of Ste. Rose, Mb. (Guynemer), And On A Farm In Grandview Area, And In Mafeking, Mb., She Sewed Clothes For The Family Including Overalls, Workshirts, Moccasins From Tanned Moose Hides She Bought From The Indians, And Sewed By Hand With Harness Maker'S Hemp Waxed With Beeswax. She Took, Developed (At Night In The Log Cabin At Guynemer, Mb.) And Preserved Many Photographs Of Her Family. She Was A Faithful Letter Writer And Kept In Touch With All Branches Of The Shipley Family. She And Her Daughter Janie Exchanged Letters Nearly Every Week For Some Forty Years Until She Died In A Nursing Home In British Columbia. Photo Courtesy Of Dorothy Shipley
