description: Samuel Willis Prowse, Born 1868 In Prince Edward Island. Received Ba From Mount Allison, New Brunswick. Graduate In Medicine From Edinburgh, 1893. Practised In Scotland From 1894 - 1898 When He Came To Winnipeg To Practise As An Eye, Ear, Nose And Throat Specialist. He Joined The Department Of Physiology In 1902 And Later Became Professor Of Otolaryngology. During Wwi, In 1916 The Manitoba Medical College Formed No.4 Casualty Clearing Station With Dr. Prowse As The Commanding Officer. He Led The Unit To France. In 1918 Dr. Prowse Was Elected Dean Of Manitoba Medical College; The Same Year The College Was In The Process Of Becoming The Faculty Of Medicine Of The University Of Manitoba. The Faculty Attained A Grade "A" Rating In 1923 Due To Dr. Prowse'S Efforts. A Testimonial Dinner Was Given In His Honour. In 1930 He Was Awarded An Honourary Degree From The Universtiy Of Manitoba At The Time Of The Joint Bma - Cma Meeting. He Continued As Dean Until His Death In August 1931 When He Died
