Ten Barbers Awaiting Customers Stand Beside Their Barber Chairs Inside The Modern Metropolitan Barber Shop, In The Clarendon Hotel, Portage Avenue At Donald Street. Note The Sinks On The Right Of The Photo And The Uniforms The Barbers Are Wearing . There Is A Man Just Inside The Entrance To The Barbershop. The Light Fixtures Are Interesting As Well As The Wood Work Over The Barbers' Counter. The Clarendon Hotel Was Built In March 1886 As The Mckenzie Hotel, Named For Its Owner, D.E. St. Jean Mckenzie, Who Was Previously A Steward At The Leland Hotel. The Mckenzie Hotel In 1886 Was Located Far Out Of Town When It Opened. In 1905 The Mckenzie Was Taken Over By E.C. Bunnell And Renamed The Clarendon. Mr. Bunnell Made The Hotel Into One Of The Most Luxurious Hotels In The City. Originally It Was Five Storeys High But After A Fire It Became Only Two Storeys High |
