(L- R): James Knickerbocker Congratulates Dr. Donald James Bowie At His Retirement Ceremony. Dr. Donald J. Bowie Born In 1887 In Midland, On; Received S.Sc. (Med.), Ma & Ph.D. From U Of Toronto. Served For 9 Years As Lecturer In Histology At Mcgill University, Montreal. While There He Developed A Method Of Staining Pepsenogen Granules In Gastric Glands And Continued This Work In Manitoba For Which He Became Internationally Known. Microscopic Research Was Developed To Its Present High Level By Dr. Bowie And Was The First Person In The Faculty To Use Radio Active Substances In Biological Research. He Came To University Of Manitoba 1937 As Assistant Prof. Of Anatomy In Faculty Of Medicine. |
