description: Harold Anthony (Doc) Oakes, Born At Hespeler, On, November 12, 1896. He Enlisted In The Royal Canadian Corps Of Signals And Went Overseas In 1915. He Was Sent To France In March 1916 And Was Posted To 1st Canadian Division Signals. Shortly After The Battle Of Vimy Ridge In May 1917 He Transferred To The Royal Flying Corps. He Returned To France With The 48th Squadron Of The Royal Flying Corps In March 1918. He Served With Raf When It Was Formed On April 1918 And Was Wounded In Action. He Was Commissioned As A Captain On July 1, 1918, And Was Awarded Dfc In November 1918. He Returned To Canada And Took A Mining Engineering Course Which He Graduated From With His Basc In Mining. Doc Oaks Was Wca'S First Manager And Chief Pilot At Hudson, On. While There He Received The First Award Of The Trans Canada Trophy For Meritorious Service In Advancement Of Aviation In Canada During 1927. He Took Over The Direction Of Flying For The Northern Aerial Minerals Exploration Ltd In 1928. Then He Left To Establish Oaks Airways Ltd And Became Its President. Next He Was With Central Aircraft Of London, On From 1944 To 1945. In 1952 He Moved To Toronto And Worked As A Mining Engineer. He Became A Consultant To James A. Richardson And Co, In Toronto . He Died At 71 Years On July 21, 1968
