description: Maureen Dowds, Born In Whitehorse, Yukon, 3 July 1948. Moved To Goderich, On, In 1959 And Began Her Track And Field Career In High School In 1963. Moved To Winnipeg In 1965, Where She Dominated In Her Sport At St. James Collegiate. In 1968 And 1969 She Was The Only Woman To Be Named As University Of Manitoba'S Female Athlete Of The Year In Consecutive Years. Won A Bronze Medal At The Pan American Games In Winnipeg 1967. From 1969 - 1974 She Retired From Competition. In 1975 She Set A Canadian Record At The Pan American In Mexico City Of 16.46 Meters. This Record Has Survived As Manitoba Record Until 1987. She Was Inducted Into The Manitoba Sports Hall Of Fame Nov 5, 1988
