The Education Of The Deaf Mute Was His Life W Work And He Became An Authority In North America. He Began As A Clerk In The Institute For The Deaf And Dumb At Belleville, On. He Joined The Teaching Staff Later. Five Years Later He Was A Teacher In Iowa State Institute For The Deaf And Dumb. In 1890 He Was Appointed Principal Of The Deaf And Dumb Institute In Manitoba. He Served As Superintendent Of The Western Chatauqua Assemble Which Met Annually At Council Bluffs, Iowa. He Did Research In The Field Of Hypnotism As A Possible Aid In Surgery And For The Cure Of Nervous Troubles Such As Stammering. He Was President Of Manitoba Club 1904 -1909; President Of The Winnipeg Golf Club. He Died In Winnipeg September 12, 1909 |

He Was One Of The Promoters Of The Millbrook Colonization Co, And As Their Representative Visited The West And Chose The Souris District For The Proposed Colony. The Two Largest Business Blocks In Souris Belonged To Him Besides A Large Share Of The Town Site, And Several Thousand Acres Of Fine Farming Land In The Vicinity.
