description: John "Black Jack" Sherratt Stewart, Nhl All-Star Defence Man 1943, 1948 & 1949 With Detroit Red Wings. He Was Born In Pilot Mound, Manitoba On May6, 1917. He Played Junior Hockey In Portage La Prairie From 1935 To 1937 When Professional Hockey Spotted Him And He Played For Pittsburg For One Year Before Spending The Next 10 Full Seasons Playing With The Detroit Red Wings From 1938 To 1950. Then He Was Traded To Chicago Black Hawks And Played With Them For 2 Seasons Before He Retired From Active Play. During His Career With Detroit He Was On 2 Stanley Cup Winning Teams, 1942 - 1943 And 1949 - 1950. He Was Also Named 5 Times To The Nhl Allstar Teams. He Was Voted The Most Valuable Player To His Team In 1942 -1943. He Was Also One Of The Original Members Voted Into The Detroit Hockey Hall Of Fame. He Took Part In 503 National League Games, Scored 30 Goals And 79 Assists For A Total Of 109 Points. When He Retired He Coached Various Teams
