description: Fred "Steamer" Maxwell, Born May 19, 1890. Was Inducted Into The Manitoba Sports Hall Of Fame Posthumously. He Never Turned Professional Though He Had Many Offers, But He Did Excel In Amateur Competition. He Joined The Monarch Seniors In 1909 After Four Years In Minor Hockey. He Was A Member Of The Monarch Seniors When They Won Th Eallan Cup In 1914-1915, Defeating Melville In The Final Round. His Position Was Rover, This When The Seven Man Game Ruled. From Active Hockey He Turned To Coaching The Winnipeg Monarchs In 1916 - 1917 And 1917 To1918, And The Winnipeg Falcons In 1919. This Winnipeg Falcons Team Won The Allan Cup, And The Following Year Was The Olympic Gold Medalists Title Winner And World Champions In 1920. He Coached The Winnipeg Maroons, A Professional Club And In 1933 And 1934 He Coached The Winnipeg Team Which Won The World Championship. He Was As Well A Referee And Was In A Number Of Allan Cup And Memorial Cup Finals
