The Front Of The Program For The Sixteenth Annual Les Voyageurs Race, The 65 Mile Canoe Marathon Which Took Place From The Winnipeg Canoe Club Dock To Lower Fort Garry And Return , With A Bivouac At Lockport, In Manitoba On September 6th And 7th In 1941. The 65 Mile Canoe Marathon Was Sponsored By The Hudson'S Bay Company. The Conditions Of The Race Stated On The Program: Sixteen Pleasure Model Canoes, Weighing Not Less Than 65 Pounds, To Be Used. Crews Must Use Single Blade Paddles And Carry Their Own Food, Camping Equipment And Blankets, Etc, And Must Weigh In, On Their Return, With Not Less Than 50 Pounds Of Dunnage. Acknowledgment Stated On The Program: It Is Very Appropriate That The Race Should Be Sponsored By The Hudson'S Bay Company, Whose Very History Is So Closely Linked With The Voyageurs, Forts And The Early Pioneer Days When The Red River Was A Main Highway And The Canoe The Principal Means Of Transportation.
