In 1896 He Formed The Firm Of Maw & Co To Carry On The Carriage Business, Later Entering The Automobile Trade. When He First Arrived In Calgary In 1883 It Was A Tent Town. In 1886 He Movedto Calgary For Three Years And Was Instrumental In Organizing The Calgary Exhibition Association And Served A Term On The City Council. He Suffered From A Heart Condition For Many Years And Retired South (California) The Last Three Years Of His Life. He Died On July 31, 1916, In Los Angeles At The Age Of 62. The Bridge Linked Pointe Du Bois, And Riverland And District With Lac Du Bonnet, And Was Built Solely For The Construction Of The Powerplant At Pointe Du Bois, Owned By Winnipeg Hydro. The Bridge Was For Their Exclusive Use - A Tramway Only. In 1914 A Portion Of The West Span Of The Bridge Collapsed And A Cpr Locomotive (Owned By Winnipeg Electric) Went Down. The Engineer Was Drowned. The Bridge Was Reconstructed But There Were Many Problems With The Bridge Through The Years. In 1930 The Manitoba Highways Department Took Over The Care Of The Bridge.
